  • A Comfortable Place to Be

    By Cassie
I used to get lost when Aiden would go to his dad's for the weekend. I would spend the weekend drinking with friends, shopping, and spending way more money than I ever needed to. (…)

  • Where oh where did my baby go?

    By Cassie
Aiden has been especially cuddly this morning.  He wants to be held and cuddled and kissed. Quite frankly I don't mind one little bit. (…)

  • Falling into Place

    By Cassie
Last year at this time I had started a new job.  I was the office manager at a large daycare center.  It was my first full time job! (…)

  • for the record

    By Cassie
When I started writing here I thought that blogging about single parenting would be simple.  Married people are always astounded at what you can accomplish without a husband. (…)

  • Spring Break '09

    By Cassie
Last week was spring break.  An entire week of no class to spend with my boy!
Sounds pretty great right? Did I mention the seven page paper that was due when I got back? (…)

  • I have returned

    By Cassie
I have a tendency to assume other mothers are judging me.  I have not blogged in two weeks.  I honestly felt as thought I had nothing to say.  I felt as though I wasn’t worth enough to share my thoughts with other mothers.  This happens from time to time. (…)

  • Reflections of a young mother

    By Cassie
I was sitting in the lawyer's office patiently waiting for them to call my name.  Kindly flipping through a magazine and eyeing all of the little plaques and pictures on the walls.  Right at that moment it hit me. (…)

  • you can blame a single mother.

    By Cassie
If you look at the way parenting trends have changed over the last few generations it is astounding.  My mother was a single mother.  She was divorced when I was six and raised me mostly alone from there. (…)

  • Worst mother alive

    By Cassie
I have been home with Aiden for exactly a month.  Going into this I thought this would be a great bonding experience.  A month home all day just me and Aiden.  I had all these ideas of the things we would accomplish.  The cleaning that would get done. (…)

  • Head Over Heels

    By Cassie

  • GO GO GO

    By Cassie
I ran across an old newspaper the other day.  The front page pictured three women from the early 1970’s.  These women were the first trained “fire women” in Illinois. (…)

  • grab life and go

    By Cassie
I have lived in Illinois since I was ten years old.  This week I went sledding for the first time ever.  I know you guys are thinking how has she never been sledding?  I was deprived as a child I suppose but this was in fact my first time.  I decided it was necessary to give Aiden this experience.  Since I knew nothing about sledding I trusted my friend's judgment when he informed me that we were going sledding at Bakers park.  We bundled up bought some sleds and were on our way. (…)

  • Instructions for Parenting

    By Cassie
Kids don’t come with instructions and neither does being a single parent.  There is no one way to raise your child.  No one to tell you how to handle each situation, each moment, each emotion.  Sometimes it's easy to find the answer.  Sometimes that motherly instinct comes raging in to save the day.  Sometimes it is a bit harder.  Raising a child completely alone is hard.  Raising a child with a person you no longer care for is even harder. (…)

  • Fashion sense?

    By Cassie
I became a Godmother this week.  It was a beautiful baptism and a lovely after party.  We were getting ready to eat supper when an older relative approached me. (…)

  • What Makes A Good Mother?

    By Cassie
Last weekend was my son's first tumbling meet. This wasn’t just a tumbling meet but also a milestone. (…)
